Cooking tips

Only grind what you need.

Keeping coriander whole helps to preserve its essential oils and flavor, so avoid pre-grinding your coriander in big batches.

Try coriander in baking and sweets.

Nandini Coriander’s citrusy notes work well in cakes, as well as toasted and steeped in milk for cream-based desserts.

Brew a soothing cup of CCF tea.

Add 1¼ cups water and ¾ teaspoon each coriander, cumin, and fennel seeds in a saucepan, bring to a boil, cover, let steep for 10 minutes, strain, and enjoy.

Make an easy spice rub for veggies & meats.

Pulse 1½ teaspoons each cumin, coriander, black pepper, and fennel seeds and ¼ teaspoon ajwain into a coarse powder. Then, mix with 1½ teaspoons fine sea salt. Use to season potatoes, Brussels sprouts, salmon, lamb chops, and more.

story_image

Nandini is a variety of coriander native to Gujarat, favored for its long-lasting fragrance, large size, and vibrant color. It is lemony, deliciously nutty when toasted, and has a floral-herbal aroma, warm like a sunny meadow

story_image

Our coriander is grown on the 20-acre Sakariya family farm, amidst custard apples, guavas, millet, and heirloom wheat, and is named after the family’s beloved cow, Nandini, the undisputed matriarch of their regenerative farm.

story_image

The Sakarias have been farming for six generations, and follow zero-budget natural farming methods that minimize outside inputs. While the state government has pushed for monocropping of coriander, Dharmesh continues to intercrop, resulting in improved water retention and thriving plants.

story_image

Their methods have evolved with time: the fields are irrigated instead of rain-fed and tractors have replaced bullock carts for tilling the land, but their philosophy remains the same: nurture the soil and ecosystem, and the produce will flourish.

Very unique flavor!

I love the product! The container is difficult to open, though. I ordered the product in the past that had a glass container with a screw on lid. Other than that, this is a great addition to my spice collection!

Love it!

Really high quality coriander. Wonderful scent and flavor especially freshly ground. And socially responsible to boot! Highly recommend.

Lemony sunshine

Nandini coriander is a bright burst of lemon, tart and nutty. I sprinkled it on a ceci (chickpea) and patty pan squash bake, and it elevated the dish to perfection.

why would i buy any other coriander?

not to be too meme-y but the day i ground up this coriander for the first time altered my brain chemistry!! the burst of that lemon-y woodsy smell that hit me when i opened the spice grinder was absolutely unforgettable. this is my desert island spice, i put it into absolutely everything and i know my food is better for it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are all your spices organic?

Our farm partners have been cultivating spices using practices that go "beyond organic" for well over five years. Although they haven't obtained USDA certification yet, this is primarily because the initial certification can be costly and may lead to cycles of debt. To meet USDA standards, four years of inspections and certificates are required after the first certification. However, we consider this process redundant and unnecessary since we conduct thorough testing on every batch we procure. It's a prerequisite for Diaspora Co. to select farm partners whose soil health and agricultural practices align with our internal standards of growing food regeneratively.

When do the spices expire? How long do they last?

Most of the spices are good 2 years from the mill date, which is listed on the harvest label sticker on the jar or bag. That being said, our spices are extremely potent and fresh as we take incredible care to source yearly and aim for quality, so 2 years is our most conservative guideline, compared to most spices in the grocery store which are often 5-10 years old upon purchase.

Do you sell wholesale?

We do! You can search for our wholesalers using our store locator here. And if you are a wholesaler and don’t see yourself on the locator, please email wholesale@diasporaco.com and we will add you to this ASAP! Thank you!

What is the best way to store the spices?

Store them in an airtight container in a dark, dry place. Do not store spices in direct sunlight, as this will shorten their shelf life.
